ID politics within a liberal framework can often be warped to allow for such degeneracy as “Otherkin rights” or “Transethnicity”. The key here is that what has been called identity politics, that is, anti-oppression struggles based on an identity as the social “other”, be it racial, sexual, etc. is entirely coherent with a radically leftist framework, which inherently avoids absurdity as white hetero dudes claiming oppression because “they’re demisexual” through the employment of a materialist view of society. This last point however, must not be taken as a need to create homogeneity within the left by just rolling all anti-oppression struggles into one, as this is usually fated to end up replicating social hierarchies. Rather, these struggles must work side-by-side as a sorts of united front, rather than an indistinguishable mass of leftism where minority voices are bound to end up forced into marginality.
